Charlotte's Garden and the Engine House at Barton Hall.
An engine room and walled garden in South Derbyshire - kitchen garden and workshop space providing volunteering opportunities and access to a garden restoration project.
Barton Blount, South Derbyshire
Charlotte's Garden and the Engine Room will be made available to self-supported groups to come and volunteer and get involved in the restoration of the kitchen garden site.
Over a two-year period, the garden and engine room have been cleared and developed with the help of volunteers to restore the old kitchen garden and create a space for people to relax and carry out craft and cooking activities.
What we’ve accomplished:
Engine house cleared, painted and filled with the contents of a cafe, including chairs, tables, crockery and miscellaneous equipment in preparation for provision of therapeutic activities.
Work in the walled garden enabled by donations and fundraising activity so far:
Cleared, sprayed and the grassed areas seeded
Paths and railings installed
Raised beds building and filled
Groups that have visited so far include:
Young Carers Stoke on Trent
Bank House drop in centre, Swadlincote
Open sessions for existing groups and fundraising events will be held for visitors and potential volunteers to encourage involvement in the project.
